doing your payroll, you are still ultimately responsible for making
sure your taxes get turned in. This is another thing you want to
discuss before selecting a company for payroll outsourcing. Most
companies will use the IRS's EFTPS (Electronic Federal Tax Payment
System), which allows you to check the status of your filing and
confirm payments made on your behalf. If a company is not using the
system, politely decline and find someone else, because it will save
you a lot of headaches. Even though the payroll outsourcing company will be the
one doing the filing for you, that won't let you off the hook if
something goes wrong.
