Baby Photography
64How many times have you missed that perfectly adorable shot of your
beautiful new baby? That gorgeous picture of the totally adorable thing
they did when no one else was around to witness, and you know they will
never do it again. The truth is that they change so much from day to
day in those first few years it seems that you should keep a baby
photographer on retainer. Those days when you put them to bed and when
you get them up in the morning, they look completely different. Those
were always the times that you wanted to pick up the yellow pages to
find a baby photography studio to keep on stand by. These are moments
that we will never get again, so when you begin to see how quickly they
are changing, it becomes more important to get these moments to keep
forever.
At The Beginning
You know how we all are in the beginning. Cameras always charged and ready to snap every picture perfect moment. Until of course the reality of being a parent sets in. We have all been guilty of it. Those first couple of months we send out the pictures almost daily to everyone on our email contact list. Then they start to move around and get into things and then the emails turn into the “I know it has been a while, I promise I will send more pictures soon…”
In a few short years they will have their school pictures that you can buy the packages and see the changes in them from year to year. But during those first 5 years where they are constantly changing, a good baby photographer is really something to check into in order to capture all of the changes you can not always get while you are busy chasing them around the house.
What To Look For
It is one thing to catch your little one in the midst of a cute moment in the comfort of home, but to try and recreate the adorable moment in a staged studio for a baby that is really more interested in either the new surroundings or the cameras themselves to be bothered with trying to look cute for a stranger. More often than not, the real money shots are the ones of you bouncing around behind the camera trying to get your baby to look remotely interested in what is going on.
One thing important in choosing a professional photographer for your baby should be to check out the professional baby photography studio. You can tell a lot about how they are going to work with children by what the studio is equipped with. Is it set up as an art space where adults come to view photographs, or is it set up to entertain children and make them feel at ease..
Comfort Level
You should also see how the photographer interacts with your child. Choosing the right baby photographer can be hard to do if your child is very shy. See how the photographer attempts to interact and see how your child reacts. In newborn baby photography, the baby needs to feel relaxed with the person and the process to capture those to cute for words moments. After all, those all too adorable moments at home come when your child is completely at ease.
Finally, check out what some may consider the most important thing to look at when choosing a baby photographer, look at the pictures displayed in their studio. I personally consider this less important than how they interact with children’s because anyone can take their best work and display it. In baby photography, it is the child’s comfort level in the studio and with the photographer are what will make priceless photos.
If you know that your child in not comfortable in strange places, you should bring some things to the studio from home that put your child at ease and make them happy. You know your child better than anyone. If simply being in a new space with different toys excites them, then you may not need to bring anything, but if your child is shy, something of their own may make them more comfortable.
Know Your Child Before Selecting The Specialist
Make sure that the time that you choose for a photo session fits into your child’s schedule. If your child naps every day at noon, 12:30 is probably not a good time for an appointment as they will be tired and cranky. No one wants to take pictures of that. If your child gets irritable when he is hungry, make sure they are fed before the appointment. Simply knowing your child’s behavior will go a long way toward creating beautiful baby photographs.
